William J. Gastle
Mr. Gastle is the founder of Microbix and has served as a Director since its inception. He is the Chairman of the Board. Mr. Gastle is primarily responsible for setting the strategic direction of the Company and is the principal architect of the Company's business development activities.
Prior to founding the Company, Mr. Gastle worked in research and development at both Ortho Diagnostics Inc., Connaught Biosciences Ltd. and in business development and laboratory services at MDS Inc.
Mr Gastle has an M.Sc. in Microbiology (Virology) from the University of Toronto. He earned his B.Sc. with Honours in Biology and Biochemistry from Dalhousie University, Halifax (NS). |

Philip J. Casselli
Mr. Casselli was appointed President of Microbix Biosystems in 2007. He is primarily responsible for all operational and revenue generating activities within the company. From 2003 to 2007 Phil held the position of General Manager at Microbix and focused on the operational activities and sales for the virology products.
Prior to joining Microbix, Phil worked in senior management positions in the high-tech software industry and held a variety of positions in sales and application development at Millipore Corporation, a major provider of purification technologies to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
Phil graduated in 1985 from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering. |

Kenneth Hughes
Dr. Hughes joined Microbix in 1995 and, as Vice President, Scientific Affairs, is the head scientist at Microbix. He is responsible for all scientific activities of the Company.
Prior to joining Microbix, Dr. Hughes was a research scientist at Hemosol Inc., in research and development. His post-doctoral research was performed at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (UK) and at the Ontario Cancer Institute.
Dr. Hughes received his B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry from the University of Sheffield (UK) and his PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology (1990) from the Royal College of Surgeons of England, University of London (UK). |

Kevin Cassidy
Mr. Cassidy has been with Microbix since the inception of the Company. He is the Vice President Biopharmaceuticals and responsible for the the commercialization of biotherapeutic drugs.
Mr. Cassidy earned an Honours B.Sc. in Genetics at the University of Toronto. |

James Long
Chief Financial Officer
James Long is the Chief Financial Officer. James has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Company since its inception and has held several directorial positions, most recently Chairman of the Audit Committee.
He is a graduate engineer from the University of Toronto, a Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario, and he holds an MBA (Finance) from the University of British Columbia.
Previously he has also served in senior financial and operational roles in the management of several other companies. |
