This newly created role reflects Microbix’s commitment to support the diagnostic community with Quality Assurance Products and Services that promote Accuracy, Quality, and efficiency in the diagnostic testing market. This is an opportune time for Dr. Rebbapragada to join Microbix and support our stakeholders with the imminent rollout of novel health screening programs such as HPV Primary screening, Self–collection, and Point Care Testing.
Dr. Rebbapragada is a long-time friend of Microbix and is a Board Certified Clinical Microbiologist and Molecular Specialist (American Board of Medical Microbiology, Fellow Canadian College of Microbiology) with diverse professional experiences in laboratories, public health, and the medical device industry. She is also a certified Inspector for Lab Accreditation by the College of American Pathologists. She has held prominent roles including, National Director of Scientific Affairs at Hologic, Laboratory Director at Dynacare for the complete portfolio of Microbiology Services (~2 million tests/year across 4 high volume labs), Senior Scientist at Public Health Ontario, and, Clinical Research Fellow for a Gates Foundation funded project on HIV/STIs in Kenya. During the pandemic, she rapidly operationalized COVID-19 testing capacity laboratories and successfully established licensure and ISO 15189 accreditation for laboratories and point of care testing clinics.
She has garnered recognition from the American Society of Microbiology (Raymond Sarber Award for top graduate research in North America), and the Ontario Ministry of Health (Quality Improvement and Innovation awards for the implementation of high complexity molecular testing, lab automation, digitized reporting, and HPV vaccine effectiveness). Her grant–funded research (CIHR, NSERC, and CHRP) have generated numerous scientific publications, clinical guideline documents, and presentations at international conferences. She has served on various scientific committees, including Chair of Virology at the Institute of Quality Management in Healthcare and the Canadian Standards Association Lab Developed Testing Guidelines committee.
