Cameron L. Groome

CEO, PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR

Mr. Groome is the President and CEO of Microbix. Before joining Microbix, he was CEO of a company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and EVP of a TSX-listed company – both in life sciences. Prior to his operational roles, he headed the healthcare activities of two national investment dealers. He has more than 25 years of experience as a leader, executive, equity analyst, investment banker, and corporate advisor. He has also been a member of the Life Sciences Advisory Group of Global Affairs Canada, and a director of public and private companies.

Jim Currie

CFO

Jim joined Microbix as Chief Financial Officer in November 2016. He brings significant financial and operations management experience in manufacturing and life science businesses. He was most recently the CFO at SMTC Corporation, a publicly traded global electronics manufacturing company. Prior to that he was CFO at Kapsch TrafficCom, a leader in highway tolling technology and Vice-President, Finance at MDS SCIEX, a global leader in life science and analytical technologies. Jim has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and is a CPA, CMA.

Ken Hughes, Ph.D.

COO

Ken is an executive and biomedical scientist with 25 years of experience in the biotechnology and biopharmaceutical industries. Previously he was President & CEO of iTP Biomedica (an innovative diagnostics company), Vice President, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs at Innovative Medicines Canada (the Industry Association for Canada’s Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies, formerly know as Rx&D) and Co-founder and Advisory Board member of the innovative biotechnology company PlantForm Corporation. He is also the founder and President of Roker Biotechnologies Inc., a company that provides consulting services to the Biotechnology and Biopharmaceutical industries. Ken received his PhD from the University of London (UK) and until 2010 served as Vice President, Scientific Affairs at Microbix.

Mark Luscher, Ph.D.

SVP, SCIENTIFIC AFFAIRS

Mark is responsible for Microbix’s scientific programs, he is a specialist in cell biology, immunovirology, and cytometry. Originator of Microbix’s LumiSort technology, he is inventor on numerous patents and patent applications related to the technology, filed in countries worldwide. He works actively on the program to deliver LumiSort to the artificial insemination industry, while overseeing scientific and technological programs and initiatives related to Microbix’s Diagnostic Products business. He earned his doctorate in Immunology at the University of Toronto in 1997, and has coauthored over 30 peer-reviewed publications.

Phil Casselli

SVP BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, SALES AND MARKETING

Phil joined Microbix in 2003 and has held various positions including General Manager and President. In 2012 he was appointed as the SVP of Sales, Marketing and Business Development leading the commercial arm of the business. He graduated in 1985 from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering and has over 30 years’ experience in technical and commercial operations in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries.
